Vision
Our vision is to promote the study and appreciation of the rich and diverse history of India and the world, with a special focus on the historical and cultural heritage of west Bengal. We believe that history is not only a collection of facts and dates, but also a living and dynamic discipline that can help us understand ourselves and our society better.
Mission
Our mission is to provide quality education and research opportunities to the students and faculty, and to engage with the local community through various outreach activities. We also seek to foster a spirit of inquiry, critical thinking and social responsibility among the students, and to prepare them for their future careers in various fields.
Our goals for the next academic year are:
- To increase the enrolment and retention of students in the history courses by 10%.
- To publish at least five research papers in reputed journals and present at least ten papers in national and international conferences.
- To organize at least one field trip and one seminar per semester for the students and faculty to enhance their learning and exposure.
- To collaborate with at least two other departments or institutions for interdisciplinary research and teaching projects.
- To develop at least one online course or module on the history of west Bengal for the benefit of the wider public.
