Message from HoD
It gives me immense pleasure to introduce the Department of Botany of Shyampur Siddheswari Mahavidyalaya, which has completed several years of academic excellence since the time of its inception. With the constant support of the management and selfless service of the teaching staff and cooperation from the student community, the Department could emerge as a centre of excellence in teaching, learning, research and extension activities. The department currently offering B.Sc. general course and B.Sc. multidisciplinary courses. The department is well known for encouraging the development of entrepreneurship skills among its students by giving training in mushroom cultivation, horticulture and algal biotechnology.
Apart from academic activities, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are regularly arranged by the department which have helped the students immensely in moulding their character, enabling them to be committed and competent individuals in family and society. The qualified and experienced teachers are the backbone of the department and with the strong support provided by the management and the Principal the Department is still striving hard to keep up its motif of excellence in every aspect of its activities, academic and non-academic. I expect that the combined efforts taken by all the stakeholders will help to fulfil our dreams to take the Department to still higher levels of excellence as were the vision of the predecessors.
